'73 911 RS Blue Chip Restoration

The May issue of Excellence Magazine contains my feature on a spectacular restoration of a 73 Carrera. It's the details and the effort to make it authentic which makes this restoration so special. Here are some additional photos that were not used in the article.
Read the Excellence story here: http://www.excellence-mag.com/issues/209/articles/blue-chip-rs-resto#.UUeFSzf4LTo

Notice how certain fender bolts were installed prior to painting. Only the ones with the carpet clips were plated.

Original stenciled "03" was replicated

Note inspection marks on latch hardware.

Cooling fan as delivered. Mottled die-cast magnesium finish w' Cosmoline

"R" stencil replicated on trailing arm. Notice selective use of undercoating (per original) and all the factory spot-welds

Factory paint marks on the brake pads

Masked off portion of headlight bucket prior to undercoat (see article for explanation)

Sealer coat peeking through thin paint copied from factory proceedures.

Did you know that every early 911 had one or two aluminum washers between the rear valance and the bumper corners?

Foil heat tube has small crimps after installed on heat exchanger per factory process.

Notice how the last few inches of the strut steering arm is painted black so that you cant see it through the wheel.

Rare '67 Rallye Argentina - Zasada Poster

Offered for sale is an unusual and rare factory Porsche poster featuring the 1967 Argentina Rallye winning 911 driven by Zasada.  Any '60's era 911 poster is rare, but this is the only one of these that I have ever seen. Condition is good to very good with no tears or folds. There is some light edging with a small strip of clear tape applied to the backside to reinforce the lower LH edge. (see detail photo) This however, would be unnoticeable when framed.

11-72 Dated 15x6 Fuchs Wheels - Perfect for Carrera Restoration

I have three very nice Fuchs wheels For Sale. They are straight and true with no curb rash except for a very minor blemish on #2. (see photo)
All three are dated 11-72 which would put them right in the range for an early '73 Carrera RS. These wheels are in the original finish, and of course will need to be refinished, but will make excellent cores.

Price - $425.00 each OBO

Mid Ohio Region PCA "Trickle-Start Sat" @ Byers Porsche

Each month through the winter, the Mid-Ohio Region of the PCA (MORPCA) has their "Trickle Charge Saturday" where the club can get together and combat cabin fever. This month the club met at Byers Imports in Columbus OH for a very special meet & greet with U.S. Porsche Racing icon, Hurley Haywood. Current Indy Car racer and huge Porsche enthusiast, Graham Rahal showed up as well. A number of interesting club cars were on display as was the new 991 series C4S. (Thanks for the test drive Byers!) Its great to see a Porsche dealership working so closely with the local PCA region to their mutual advantage!
